YWCA Presents Friend Awards to Three Outstanding Supporters
FARGO, ND (February 18, 2025) — YWCA Cass Clay presented its annual YWCA Friend Awards to local individuals and organizations for exceptional support and volunteerism to YWCA. Friend Award honorees are named each year at YWCA’s Champions of Empowerment event in February, held last Thursday for supporters and partners working with YWCA to end cycles of homelessness and poverty for women and children.
Sue Kressin was recognized for her invaluable volunteerism supporting YWCA’s finance department, performing accounting tasks with accuracy and ease and bringing her decades-long career and experience to YWCA. For two years now, Sue has given of her time – volunteering to complete special financial projects and stepping in during times of transition.
John O’Day was recognized for his commitment to ensuring hearts are full through a homemade meal for women and children calling YWCA Emergency Shelter home each Thanksgiving. His special commitment, including voluntarily giving up much of his own holiday, is remarkable. John and his team of Horace Hawks football players and coaches bring holiday happiness to families at YWCA.
Gate City Bank was honored for their continued investment in the mission and work of YWCA. Gate City Bank employee volunteers have been a constant at YWCA – painting walls, organizing, pulling weeds, cooking in our kitchen, wrapping gifts at Christmas time, and volunteering at YWCA Women of the Year and Chocolate for Change. YWCA also benefits from Gate City wisdom on our Board, event committees, and finance and programs committees. There isn’t a program of YWCA that Gate City Bank hasn’t invested in, and the impact of their philanthropy is felt across the organization and by those it serves each day.
