YWCA Cass Clay’s 14-Day Equity Challenge

The Equity Challenge was originally developed by Dr. Eddie Moore Jr. (#BlackMind) and co-developed with Debby Irving and Dr. Marguerite Penick (#DiverseSolutions). The plan has been adopted by organizations, associations, and corporations all over the world. Dr. Moore is director of the Privilege Institute in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and created the Challenge to not only help people better understand issues surrounding equity, inclusion, privilege, and leadership, but also to do so in a way that would build a habit of learning by stretching it over multiple days.

YWCA Cass Clay’s 14-Day Equity Challenge was adapted from YWCAs across the country by YWCA Cass Clay and was designed to help community members easily and conveniently build more effective social justice habits, particularly around issues of race, privilege, power, and domestic violence. We want to thank YWCA Spokane, YWCA Dayton, YWCA Boston, and YWCA Greater Cleveland for inspiring this challenge.

This challenge is designed to push you out of your comfort zone, think critically about difficult topics, and grow in your understanding of the ways people and systems perpetuate (and have the power to eliminate) racism.

We’re excited to invite you to this opportunity to dive deeper into racial equity and social justice. It is accessible to anyone interested in learning more and examining these issues in our own community.

Each weekday November 1-28, 2021, YWCA Cass Clay sent emails about a variety of equity topics to those who signed up for the challenge. Each day’s topic and resources are still available to review for those who missed the challenge or want to revisit and/or share!

As you engage in the various activities, be sure to tag, comment, and follow @ywcacassclay across all social platforms. Thank you for accepting this challenge!
